British emigration has been one of the most meaningful actions of people in recent history. Tens of millions of people have abandoned the British Isles over the past 400 years. Today, some people across the world self-identify as possessing British ancestry, more significant than the UK's population itself. British migration has been one of the most prominent movements of people in modern history. At the museum, learn about some of the people who went from and to this country and their roles and discover the formation of the NHS throughout the years.

A brief history of Lewisham
The initial railroad through Lewisham, the North Kent line to Dartford, opened in 1849. The current station opened in 1857 when the Mid Kent line was added; these rail routes supported the structure of new houses for suburbanites to live in. Cable cars, as well as trains and transports, brought customers into Lewisham, and by the nineteenth century, there were various enormous shops in the town community. In that year, the Clock Tower was finished to commend the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1897. The town focus was crushed by a flying bomb in 1944 yet had recuperated by the late 1950s. The town is the origin of numerous celebrated writers like Christopher Marlowe, Edith Nesbit, and different others.
